What Do I Offer?

I am a qualified primary teacher with 12 years experience across KS1 and KS2, specialising in 11+ preparation (GL & CEM) and KS2 SATs support. I have also worked as a professional examiner marking SATs papers giving me unique insight into assessment and exam expectations.

My lessons are personalised and engaging, using strategies such as scaffolding, modelling, targeted questioning, and step-by-step problem solving. Each session includes a recap, structured tasks, and review, helping children build fluency, confidence, and independent learning skills.

I work with all abilities, from extending higher-achieving pupils to supporting those who find learning challenging.

11+

I provide tailored support to help children prepare for the 11+ exams across English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning, covering both GL and CEM formats. My approach focuses on building strong subject knowledge alongside essential exam techniques. Through engaging lessons, targeted practice, and regular feedback, your child will develop the skills and confidence needed to perform at their best. To track progress, I provide end-of-term assessments and offer realistic mock exams that mirror the exam environment. These help identify strengths and areas for improvement while reducing test-day anxiety.

With personalised guidance and encouragement, your child will not only enhance their academic skills but also grow in confidence — ensuring they are fully prepared to succeed in their 11+ journey.

KS2

Key Stage 2 is a crucial stage where children build on their foundations and prepare for the transition to secondary school. My KS2 tuition supports children across English, Maths, and Reasoning, with a particular focus on Year 6 SATs preparation.

I support children in:

  • Maths – arithmetic fluency, problem-solving, fractions, decimals, percentages, and reasoning skills.

  • English – reading comprehension, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and extended writing.

  • Exam techniques – time management, question strategies, and building confidence under timed conditions.

  • SATs readiness – targeted practice papers, mock assessments, and step-by-step guidance to reduce test anxiety.

Lessons are tailored to each child’s needs, balancing areas of improvement with opportunities to stretch and challenge. I use clear explanations, guided practice, and interactive tasks to help children gain both skill and confidence. Parents receive regular progress updates and practical strategies to support learning at home. The goal is not only to prepare children for the SATs but also to ensure they feel confident, capable, and ready for the next stage of their education.

KS1

In Key Stage 1, children are building the foundations for their future learning. My tuition is designed to make these early steps fun, engaging, and confidence-boosting.

I support children in:

  • Early Maths skills – number bonds, simple calculations, shapes, and problem-solving.

  • English skills – phonics, reading fluency, spelling, punctuation, and early writing.

  • Reasoning skills – gentle introduction to puzzles, patterns, and logical thinking.

Each lesson is tailored to your child’s pace, ensuring they feel encouraged and supported. Parents receive regular feedback and simple strategies to continue supporting learning at home. The aim is not only to strengthen key skills but also to nurture a love of learning and a positive mindset towards schoolwork.

Homework Help

Homework can sometimes feel overwhelming — for both children and parents. My Homework Help sessions are designed to take the stress out of homework time by offering clear explanations, step-by-step guidance, and encouragement.

I support children with:

  • Understanding tricky topics in Maths, English, and Reasoning.

  • Breaking down tasks into manageable steps.

  • Building independent study habits so children become more confident in tackling homework on their own.

  • Developing problem-solving strategies rather than just providing answers.

Sessions are flexible and can focus on the week’s assignments, preparation for class tests, or areas where your child feels less confident. My aim is to turn homework into a positive learning opportunity rather than a stressful chore.
